Thapar University B.Tech 2017 Admission Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should go through the eligibility criteria before filling the application form. The eligibility criteria contains set of rules and conditions which shows the eligibility of candidates for Thapar University 2017 B.tech Admissions.

• Candidates should be citizen of India.
• Candidates should have passed 12th class exam.
• Applicants should have Physics,Mathematics as their compulsion subjects with Chemistry/Biology/Bio-Technlogy/Computers as an optional subject.
• Candidates have to score minimum of 60% marks.
• Candidates must have appear JEE Main 2017.
• Candidates date of birth must be on or after 1 October 1991. However, candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories are allowed a relaxation of 5 years i.e. 1986.
• Board toppers will be offered direct admissions.

Thapar University B.Tech 2017 Admission Selection process.

Candidates will be offered admission in Thapar University for B.tech courses based on the JEE Main 2017 rank and class 12 performance.
There shall be three ranks in total, All India Rank, categorical rank and state rank. Board toppers will be granted direct admission in the University.

In Online Mode

Applicants need to pay INR 1500/- as their application fee.
Candidates can pay their application fees via Credit/Debit or through Net Banking.

In Offline Mode

Candidates need to pay fees in offline mode via DD of Rs.1500/- in the favour of Thapar University payable at Patiala.

Thapar University B.Tech 2017 Admission Seats are offered on the basis of Reservation

Some of the seats are allowed to reserve aside for reserved category candidates.

ST/SC: From Punjab – 25%, Outside Punjab (SC – 17.5%, ST – 7.5%)
Punjab State Candidates – 50%
Sports category – 2% to candidates having certificate in A, B, C gradation issued by Director of Sports, Punjab
10 seats will be reserved for beneficiaries of MHRD, GOI.
1 seat for Jammu Kashmir migrants.
Backward Classes: 5%
Physically Handicapped: From Punjab – 3%, Outside Punjab – 3%
1% seats for candidates who are children of Thapar University Employees.

The exam conducted for admission in Thapar University will be same as in the format of JEE Main.

Thapar University B.Tech 2017 Admission Counselling

• The University will conduct the counselling in mid of July 2017. Candidates who will get enlisted in the merit list will get the chance to mark options of colleges and courses according to the priority.
• Candidates are required to attend in person at the counselling to participate in the process.
• Also, it is necessary to fetch all the requisite documents and certificates in originals and in the prescribed format.
• It is also important that the documents must be attested by the authorities.
• Candidates are suggested to bring photocopies of the set as well.
• At the time of document verification, the candidate must bring a DD of Rs. 1500 in favor of “Thapar University”, payable at Patiala to proceed with the counselling.
